SEA CLEAR is a program established by the UCLA's Vietnamese Student Union in 1998
to represent Southeast Asian students and educate them about Southeast Asian community issues.
Through five different components (Peer Counseling, Mentorship, Internship, Wellness, and Transfer),
SEA CLEAR stresses holistic growth to increase graduation and retention rates in the historically
under-represented Southeast Asian community.

SPEAR was formed in 1988 as one of the first three CRC (Campus Retention Committee) retention projects
in reaction to UCLA’s removal of Pilipinxs from Affirmative Action, the anticipated drop of Pilipinx
admission rates, and discontent with UCLA's ability to address our retention needs. SPEAR uses a holistic
approach that identifies Pilipinx identity, community, and the cultural standards of success as factors in
Pilipinx retention rates. Thus, SPEAR emphasizes the need for “bayanihan” where students support other students
in redefining our education and succeeding at the university level.
AAP is UCLA's student diversity program, which provides services to students who are
historically underserved in higher education, such as first-gen students, recent
immigrants, or come from minoritized racial/ethnic groups.
AAP provides services such as college counseling, peer learning, preparation for advanced degrees, service learning opportunities, and more!
